Heritage Park Gardens

Help us preserve the natural beauty of our county by being a gardens volunteer!

Our gardens are designed to display plants and flowers that are historically native to this area.

Gardeners are always needed throughout the growing season to help us preserve our grounds with help from the Master Gardeners and the Wolf River chapter of Wild Ones.

Museum Hosts

Do you have a passion for history and want to share it with the world?

Do you love dressing up in historic clothing?

The Shawano County Historical Society is always in need of docents during our school tour and summer tour season.

Museum Hosts are an integral part of our educational mission here at the historical society, and we rely on generous volunteers to help fulfill that mission.

This volunteer opportunity will allow you to share the rich history of Shawano County in an immersive and historical environment.

You need not be a seasoned docent to volunteer.

We provide on-the-job training for all docents as well as provide you with a script that can be used during tours.

This is your chance to dress up in period clothing, share you passion for history, and perhaps even inspire a local child to help preserve our history in the future.

Building Maintenance

Do you consider yourself handy?

We need enthusiastic individuals to help monitor the condition of our museums and detail any needed major repairs.

Individuals who help with our building maintenance work closely with our curator, garden volunteers, and our board of directors to help us preserve the unique history of Shawano County forever.

Care & Cataloging of Collections

At the core of our mission is the maintenance of our collections for the enjoyment and education of all.

Volunteers will work closely with the archive director and curator in the organization, cataloging, and care of archival material and collections.

Volunteer opportunities within archives and collections are numerous.

From cataloging to research, we can match your comfort level to various opportunities within this field.

We offer on-the-job training for the many hands that are needed to perform this task.
