Fireworks at the Nabor Cottage
Shawano Lake
July 4, 1949

Photo of the day from July 4th, 1949 from the Andrew Naber collection.

The photo is a night scene at the Naber cottage on North shore of Shawano Lake. Just like today, neighbors are celebrating the 4th of July with fireworks.

Mary Podzilni (Marshal) tells us the 4th of July was anxiously awaited annually for the entertainment of the North Beach families. John Naber and his extended family supplied all the fireworks for the event.

Mary states, ” it was special beyond words.” Mary is pictured lighting her sparkler along with her sister, Nancy Marshall with Pat Dodge (in shorts) to the side. Mary still lives in one of the original cottages on the North shore.
