Kuckuk’s General Store and Residence
Belle Plaine, WI
John and Amelia (Sperberg) Kuckuk purchased the Bell Plaine store from the Raddant Company in 1894. They operated the business as a retail store and also purchased hay, grain, potatoes, and other farm crops until 1917 when John Kuckuk died. After his death, his widow Amelia and two sons, Orville and Ralph continued the business and they enlarged the building to increase the size of the living quarters. The store also was the home of the Belle Plaine post office. After the Kuckuks, Myrtle Fischer operated the Belle Paine Tap out of the building.
