It was common for teachers to take a photo of the entire class during the school year. Sometimes a copy would be given to each pupil as a remembrance and in some cases it was in the Shawano Evening Leader.
**GRESHAM—**The Shawano High Class of 1951 gathered for its 25th anniversary reunion Saturday, July 24 at the Woodland in Gresham. A total of 74 attended. Four of the classmates are deceased: Clara (Spurrier) Norton, Franklin Barkow, Barbara (Thelen) Bohr and Betty Lou Meyer.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Gruber and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Casey were the honored guests.
After the cocktail hour, a chicken and ham dinner was served.
Duane Rades, Chairperson of the Reunion Committee, introduced Pat Gilson who was the master of ceremonies. Each classmate introduced himself, wife or husband and told a little about himself.
A newsletter of those attending and about the ones who replied, but were unable to attend, was distributed. The subject of having a 30th class reunion was discussed. Prizes were awarded to Doris (Theis) Witmer for sending in the first return; Lois (Rossow) Fugate and Sidney Dodge for coming the longest distance (Denver, Colo.); Mae (Bartz) Berndt for most grandchildren (youngest); Eugene Hoppe for being married the longest time; Lois (Rossow) Fugate for being married the shortest time; Willis Teetzen having the youngest child. Numerous draw prizes were awarded. Carol (Schneider) Gilson and Maynard Kunschke were the prize winners.
The rest of the evening was spent reminiscing, viewing a display of old class photos, and dancing to the music of Morrie Bentz and his band.
The Reunion Committee members were Duane Rades, Chairperson; Joanne (Umland) Morrin, Co-Chairperson, Betty (Blank) Nemetz, Marilyn Richards, Donna (Zimmerman) Nordin, Jim Runge and Elroy (Butch) Bergner.
