136 S. Main Street in Shawano Wisconsin

The building at 136 S. Main Street in Shawano was originally a drugstore owned by Dr. John Williams. About 1908 John Bohr bought the building and added a second story as living quarters. The main floor was a tavern.  You’ll notice, his name is on the facade.

In 1938, the business in this building was called the Farmer’s Home. In 1939, William Reichel bought the building and opened Reichel’s Bar. Mr. Reichel formerly operated four bowling lanes in the basement of the Masonic Building on the SW corner of Main and Division Streets. He removed them and reinstalled them in this building.

Carl Routzahn was the owner in the early 1950s. Vilas Rades purchased the building on October 10, 1957 and was still listed in the city directory in 1967. By 1997 it was called The Boardwalk and from 2001-2003 it was called Something To Do and then, The Well.

Today, 136 S. Main Street is the home of J Doggs.
